Tejasvini
Her husband dismissed her wisdom as childish talk. So she ran his kingdom for eighteen years, and then she became his teacher.
Long ago, Queen Chudala of Malwa set out to understand her own mind, and she did. She grew so calm and luminous that even her husband, King Shikhidhvaja, noticed the change. But when she told him what she had discovered, he laughed. What could a young queen know about wisdom?
Chudala didn’t argue. She simply kept shining.
The king, restless and unhappy, decided to give up his throne and search for answers in the forest. One night, he slipped away. Chudala could have chased after him or begged him to come back. Instead, she took the throne herself, and for eighteen years she ruled the kingdom wisely and well.
But she never stopped caring about the man in the forest. By day, she ruled. By night, legend says, she flew to the forest disguised as a young sage named Kumbha, and taught her husband everything he had once refused to hear from her. Under her guidance, the king finally found the peace he had been searching for.
Only then did Chudala reveal who his teacher had been. This time, the king listened. They returned to the kingdom together and ruled side by side.
Not everyone will recognise your brilliance right away. Some people will laugh. Some will walk away. Chudala’s answer was to keep shining anyway, until the one person who doubted her could finally see it.
In Sanskrit, there’s a word for a woman like that: tejasvini, the radiant one, whose light comes from within.
Our modern earrings are made for her: sleek, bright, and easy to wear from morning to midnight. Wear them the way Chudala wore her wisdom, without waiting for anyone’s permission to shine.
